Mark A. Plummer holds degrees in biology and biochemistry from The University of Texas-Pan American and in chemical engineering from The University of Texas at Austin. He spent 13 years with Sun Oil Company holding multiple engineering positions. He served as a production engineer for the Arkansas-Louisiana-Texas area; a senior engineer managing properties in the upper Gulf Coast; and offshore operations, exploitation and completion engineer overseeing three major platforms in the Gulf of Mexico. In 1994, he founded Chestnut Exploration and Production, an independent oil and natural gas company. He later founded Chestnut Exploration Partners, a FINRA-registered broker dealer, and Chestnut Exploration, an energy and natural resource company that acts as the general partner for production funds and the managing venturer for drilling joint ventures. Most recently, Mark founded Chestnut Well Service, a well workover and completion company operating in the Southwestern United States. Mark is a registered professional engineer with the state of Texas and FINRA-registered securities principal, and serves as chief compliance officer for the brokerage.
J.W. Gotreaux began his career as a roughneck for Holston Well Service. He then spent six years as a tool pusher with various companies, until he received a supervisory position with Petco Fishing & Rental, a position he held for seven years. J.W. left Petco for a management position with Weatherford Services, supporting the company’s national and international markets. After 13 years with Weatherford, J.W. joined Chestnut Well Service as vice president of operations in 2012. He has more than 40 years of experience in the oil and natural gas industry.
Jim Kendall holds a Bachelor of Science in geology from Missouri State University and a Master of Science in Geology from the University of Arkansas. He has more than 16 years of exploration and development experience in six major oil and natural gas basins across the United States. Most recently, he worked as the exploration manager of East Texas for Samson Resources. Throughout his career, he has successfully discovered and developed numerous conventional and unconventional prospects within several major onshore United States plays, including the James Lime horizontal play, Bossier tight gas sand play and the currently active Woodbine/Eagle Ford horizontal shale play.
Wanda Smith has been with Chestnut Exploration and Production since 2008. She is a magna cum laude graduate of Texas Woman’s University with a major in government and a minor in business administration. She holds a Master of Arts in political science and a Juris Doctor from the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville and is licensed to practice law in Arkansas and Texas. She began her career in oil and gas in 1977 with Core Lab and has worked at ARCO International, Chicago Title and as an adjunct professor in the Dallas-area community college system. Wanda works primarily in mineral title performing all aspects of leasing acquisition and management, researching land and mineral title, preparing abstracts and curative documents, and ensuring due diligence has been properly performed.
Laurie Tjosvold has been with Chestnut Exploration and Production since February 2006. She has more than 26 years of experience in oil and natural gas accounting, as well as expert knowledge of Chestnut’s accounting software. Her experience in the energy industry enables her to understand the complexities of oil and natural gas accounting, tax information and preparation, and revenue distributions and statements.
